About Jeanette Ponder
I was born in East Orange, NJ, to Brenda Love Ponder, a hospital administrator and world-famous jazz guitarist Jimmy Ponder, I originally aspired to be a professional dancer or opera singer. For middle and high school, I attended Kent Place School in Summit, NJ. Although accepted at Simon Rock's College of Bard at fifteen, I completed my college education at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxille, NY.
My direction changed to fashion show production and wardrobe after college, with positions at Cirque du Soleil, Ballet Tech, New York Fashion Week, and Chicago's Merchandise Mart. Simultaneously, I pursued my passion for writing and produced content for Demand Media. In addition, I published an erotic romance novella and did freelance editing.
Recently, I transitioned into political comms, working as Director of Communications for Transmit Media Podcast Network, a multimedia podcast start-up. Ultimately, my goal is to begin a progressive podcast, as well as expanding into independent, progressive Democratic journalism.
In addition to these pursuits, I am also a semi-pro Western astrologer (check out my astrology site!). My hobbies include cooking, reading, sewing, makeup, and dance.
